KOMSOMOL - 100: SOCIOLOGICAL RESEARCH ON THE HISTORICAL MEMORY OF RUSSIAN YOUTH

Abstract

The purpose of the article is a characteristic of the historical memory of the Russian youth about the Komsomol movement. The article presents the results of the Komsomol-100 sociological research conducted by the Institute of Fundamental and Applied Studies of the Moscow State University in May 2018, in total about 1,300 people were surveyed (N = 1309, the quota sample). The study was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Komsomol, but the results in many respects reveal the features of the historical memory of youth and the conditions in which it is formed in modern Russian society. In different geographic and sociocultural conditions, as the study shows, such features are largely similar. The Komsomol for a new generation of young people is moving away into the field of history, which is largely due to the rare mention of it (or the absence of such references) in the family, at the place of study and work of youth. Some functions of the Komsomol in organizing the collective affairs of youth were assumed by teachers, lecturers, and social institutions related to the study and professional activities of young people. This happened mainly without the participation of youth organizations formed on the Komsomol site. The results of the study can be taken into account when developing programs for personal development and patriotic youth education.
