EXPORT OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS: CAN RUSSIA BECOME ONE OF THE LEADING EXPORTERS IN THE WORLD?

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the structure and directions of export and import of Russian agribusiness products, determining the place and role of the Russian Federation in the world export of agricultural raw materials and food.The problems of stimulating the export of products within the framework of the priority project "Export of agricultural products" are determined taking into account the results of a survey of exporters of agricultural products in 2016. Possible violations of WTO requirements are identified when developing the activities of the priority project. An assessment is given of Russia's ability to become the world leading exporter of agricultural raw materials and food. It is indicated that one of the reasons for the refusal of producers to expand their activities to foreign markets is the limited nature of both economic and technological opportunities for increasing the production of the main types of products. The author concludes that the country imports not only products for which the soil and climatic conditions in Russia do not quite fit, but also the products of the agroindustrial complex, which has favorable conditions for production. Based on the study, the author proposed measures aimed at developing the export of Russian agro-industrial products.
