The purpose of the article is to determine the level of distribution and structure of religious extremist sentiments in the region. The article identifies the most important indicators of the religious security state in the Lower Volga region on the basis of data from a massive representative empirical survey (in the form of a questionnaire) conducted by the team of the Department of History, Political Science and Sociology of the Saratov State Law Academy in the spring of 2020 using Internet resources. As a result of the research, the organizers come to the conclusion that, on the one hand, a generally negative attitude of the regional community towards religious extremism was recorded; on the other hand, a number of indicators (about 3% feel a threat to their faith and the faith of their family, about 4% admit the use of violence in violation of justice in relation to their faith, 0.5% refer to the murder of people as a sacred act) indicates the presence religious extremist sentiments and actions in the Lower Volga region.Downloads
