METHODOLOGY OF FORECASTING AND PLANNING IN THE ECONOMY: EVOLUTION OF DEVELOPMENT AND PERFORMANCE OF APPLICATION AT THE PRESENT STAGE

Abstract

In modern conditions, public authorities, business entities and citizens show a need for knowledge, foresight and construction of the economic future, which can be satisfied only if effective methodological approaches and tools are applied that correspond to the current historical stage. The article examines the transformations of the forecasting and planning methodology that occur depending on the stages of economic development: pre-industrial, industrial and post-industrial. The purpose of the article is to assess changes in the possibilities and methodology for forecasting and planning the economic future at different stages. For this purpose, the specific features of the methodology of economic forecasting and planning at the stages of civilizational development were identified, the effectiveness of the application of the methodology was assessed according to the parameters of the potential of methods and the predictability of the future, and the problems of forecasting and planning of the national economy in the post-industrial period were identified. The research methodology was based on the use of methods such as description, comparative method, analysis of statistical data, matrix method, method of graphic images. The result of the study was the identified factors and conditions that affect the possibilities of applying forecasting and planning methodology at certain stages, as well as the prospects for its development in the post-industrial period.
