The purpose of the article is to analyze the social ideas of modern youth about the image of the Motherland. Being a constructed concept, the “image of the Motherland” is formed in a person from birth by various social institutions. An important role is given to the state, which sets the main vectors and directions of patriotic education. However, modern youth is not only an object for formation, but it is also able to actively create social reality by constructing their own social ideas. The subject of the research is the cognitive, affective and evaluative components of the image of the Motherland in the public consciousness of Russian youth. This approach, in line with the prefiguration type of culture (according to M. Mead), determines the dominant role of youth in the vision of the world and requires the formation of new social mechanisms for constructing the image of the homeland. The main conclusions presented in the article, formulated on the basis of the results of sociological research, allowed us to compare the social representations of youth who are actively involved in public life and occupy a passive position. The results of the study became the basis for determining the main areas of activity of social institutions, structures, agents involved in the process of constructing the image of the Motherland among modern Russian youth.Downloads
