INFLUENCE OF THE RELIGIOUS FACTOR ON THE FORMATION OF CIVIC IDENTITY

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to identify the role of a religious factor in the formation of identity, as well as to determine under what conditions a religious identity is combined with a civil one, and under which it opposes and dominates. The formation and implementation of an identity policy is the most important task of national security, because civic identity is its essential foundation and at the same time the most important resource of competitiveness in the current conditions of multiple local conflicts and geopolitical clashes. Civic identity is closely linked to religious. This connection may consist in organic reinforcement of each other, relations of subordination (civic identity is formed "on top" of the religious) and in opposition. Cross-analysis of identities provides a deeper understanding of the role of each of them. The article discusses the mechanisms of formation of civic and religious identity, especially the interplay of secular and religious concepts. This allowed us to draw conclusions about the rapid radicalization of Islam, the widespread increase in the degree of politicization of faith. The digital revolution allowed extremist structures to integrate into communication systems successfully, using all the mechanisms for constructing social spaces - from propaganda, misinformation - to “networks” and “funnels”, and successfully involving young people in illegal activities in various parts of the world. The empirical base of the research is based on the results of the author's sociological research “Religious and National: Choosing a Value Paradigm” (2016 - Republic of Tajikistan, 2018 - Republic of Dagestan). Young people's ideas about the influence of religion on socio-political development and the processes of socio-political modernization are studied. The research materials formed the basis of scientific and methodological recommendations for municipal antiterrorist commissions. They can also be used in work to counter the spread of the ideology of extremism and terrorism, to improve the skills of employees of the executive branch and local self-government
