Abstract

The relevance of the work is determined by the need to smooth out the existing inequality of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, including due to a fairly high level of corruption in the regions and in the localities in a wide variety of areas social, economic, political and others. Using various indicators, including recorded cases of bribes, the number of economic crimes, as well as data from national and international ratings, the authors using the method of correlation analysis established a direct relationship between the level of corruption and regional inequality, i.e. the richer the region, the more reasons for organizing corruption, the greater the gap between economic and social well-being of the population. In the article, general scientific methods of synthesis and analysis are used, including analysis of the legal framework, systematization method, and correlation analysis. The scientific value of the article lies in the systematization of the main areas of socio-economic and political development of the regions affected by corruption, increasing their differentiation, as well as in the formation of an integrated approach to the study of the degree of influence of corruption on the strengthening of regional inequality in the country, the reliability of which is confirmed by correlation analysis. The author developed recommendations to reduce the impact of corruption on increasing regional inequality, and also proposed measures to increase the effectiveness of the fight against corruption, which is of practical importance for interested authorities and academics. Prospective studies may be devoted to the analysis of other political factors of regional inequality and to an in-depth study of foreign experience in solving problems of high differentiation in the development of regions.
