POLITMOB: CURRENT STATUS OF YOUTH PROTEST ACTIVITY FORMAT

Abstract

Subject: politmob as a form of protest activity of youth. Under the politmob (from English political, mob crowd) is understood a pre-planned mass political compaign in which a large group of people appears in public, performs pre-specified actions and then diverges. Politmob is a kind of smartmob. The participants of the politmob are gathered by means of communication (mainly the Internet). The purpose of the article: to determine the current state of the politmob as a form of youth protest activity by assessing the mobilization and recruiting efficiency. To solve this goal, on May 5, a study was conducted on the protest activity of youth in the social networks of A. Navalny's action before the inauguration of the President of the Russian Federation. The composition of virtual participants for comparing them with the compositions of previous years is revealed. A selective study of video content in youtube was done to determine the shade of protest moods participating and sympathizing in the meeting; collection and analysis of available information from other social networks are done, including periscope, stream video, where, in our opinion, there is a great mobilization potential. Proposals are made on the methodology for predicting the protest virtual youth activity; methodology for collecting information in social networks. Scope of the results: the results obtained and their comparability with the studies of previous years will help in predicting the virtual protest activity of youth.
