Social trust and mistrust in a society are characterized as the result of complex factors. These include: socio-cultural factors dominant values and attitudes in the public consciousness which are supported by tradition, religious and educational systems; socio-structural factors the level and nature of social differentiation, variety of social groups and the specifics of their relationship with each other; economic factors the nature of the economic situation, which affects the social well-being of citizens, their confidence in their present and future, ability to meet their claims; criminological factors the nature of the criminal situation, crime level, the prevalence of crimes related to the abuse of trust; social and psychological factors the nature and characteristics of the individual socialization, the role of the immediate environment. The totality of these factors forms the socio-cultural matrix of society, in which trust or mistrust dominates, and this matrix determines the mass social practice. Practice, based on trust, enhances the effectiveness of institutions and reduces the costs of their functioning. In conditions of mass mistrust society loses axiological and institutional unity and is subjected to archaism.Downloads
