SPORT AS AN INSTRUMENT OF POLITICAL CONFRONTATION: TO THE QUESTION OF STATE POLICY IN THE SPHERE OF PHYSICAL CULTURE AND SPORTS

Abstract

n the article the author considers the modern mutual influence of sport and politics in the context of using it as a tool of ideological propaganda and political manipulation. The characteristics of the activities of the International Olympic Committee, which has been considered since its formation to the present day, are described in terms of the dynamics of the attitude toward the emergence of political protest moods in sports competitions. The author focuses on the role and place of the state policy of Russia in the sports sphere, as well as foreign attempts at political manipulation related to the participation and organization of international sports competitions, in particular, the Olympic Games, on the Russian territory. The article also discusses the possibilities of reducing the degree of politicization of international sports interaction. The author comes to a conclusion about the deep penetration of politics into sports, acting as an arena for the implementation of political opposition in the struggle for international authority and leadership.
