THE PROBLEM OF FALSIFICATION OF HISTORY OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR: THE OREL-KURSK ARC

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of counteraction to attempts to falsify history. The authors defend the idea that the preservation of historical memory is part of the policy of protecting the historical and cultural heritage. It is closely connected with the goal-setting of the state and society in the sphere of civil patriotic education. The issue of the importance of reliable information in the formation of ideas about the connection between the past, the present and the future is raised. The evaluation of the negative impact of foreign structures on the national historical memory is given. The falsification of historical facts is seen as a cognitive weapon aimed at interfering in the political decision-making process. The article presents certain examples, methods and ways of falsifying history. Particular attention is paid to the problem of fraudulent facts about the events of the Second World War in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods. The political-ideological reasons for the distortion or silence of historical events are analyzed. The current trends, goals and possible damage from the falsification of the events of the Second World War period are considered. The authors come to the conclusion that counteraction to attempts to falsify history is the most important task of state policy for the protection of historical and cultural heritage.
