CLASSIFICATION OF THE POPULATION OF THE REGION BY THE LEVEL OF SOCIAL TENSION

Abstract

n this paper, a methodology for classifying social groups of the population according to the level of social tension and readiness for participation in mass protest actions using cluster analysis is described. Six clusters with different protest potential have been singled out on its basis: "passive pessimists", "latent oppositionists", "inert dissatisfied", "denying public protest", "active oppositionists", "prosperous conservatives". The article gives a detailed description of the composition of these clusters, on the basis of which it is revealed that the main carriers of the protest potential are representatives of two clusters: "active oppositionists" and "latent oppositionists" who are ready to take part in mass protest actions. These clusters in total cover about a third of the adult population of the region, which requires monitoring of the sentiments of these groups.
