The article raises the issue of the decline of sociological knowledge in the modern world. The historico-philosophical substantiation of this process is given, the reasons for which the author sees in the separation of positive science from the philosophical principles that historically lay in its foundation. The axiological crisis of the modern world is reflected in all spheres of human life, which directly relates to the science of society. Separation from the religious, metaphysical foundations of life inevitably led the sociological theory to a purely immanent perception of the process of human development. The historical substitution of values led to the rejection of religion, faith in God, with the replacement of all this by faith in human progress. The author makes an attempt to identify acceptable ways to overcome this crisis, which is pathological in nature.Downloads
