IMAGE OF THE OTHER IN INTERNAL POLITICAL DISCOURSE (THE CASE OF VENICE)

Abstract

The phenomenon of separatism in the Italian region of Venice (Veneto) attracted the authors' attention of due to the uniqueness of the regional differentiation that has developed in this country. In the structure of the case under consideration, it is possible to find a combination of almost all factors feeding radical regionalism and separatism (historical, economic and sociocultural), as well as forms of political institutionalization of separatism (a political party whose program slogan is independence, referendum). The article deals with the diversification of the image of the Other in the internal political discourse.
